Need help softmodded my wii was 3.1 then it had upgraded to 3.4 but downgraded to 3.2 for softmod.

Anyway the wii disc channel wouldnt play orig games it shows up a disc channel but would black screen, and the backup channel would start off a copy then would just black screen.

As I had pissed about when doing mod with different wads and maybe installing same iso etc I thought maybe mod is corrupted so decided to delete homebrew and backup channels thinking start fresh and that was a mistake cos then I couldnt run the zelda hack as wii disc wont work although picks up game but would just black screen.

So went even further by formating, was told would revert it to factory state when I got it from shop but now it just boots onto a black screen with a wad menu for hombrew and through there can go into homebrew, why is that still on there, whats happened to the wii menu...... how can I get it back. I think Im in trouble.

I think at worst a chip will fix it but "English" seems to be the guru on the wii softmods.
Hope you get it soerted though

Thanks for the reply, reading through threads English seems to be the man, hope he can help.

When I power up it just goes to a black screen where at top I have 6 options
to choose from systemmenu, homebrew, installed file, load/install file, systemmenu hacks and settings.

Bottom left it says IOS v30, Systemmenu v290 and on bottom right it says preloader v0.28.

From what I had read up with a system format it was supposed to reset back to when I bought it from shop but even so why is the softmod stuff still there and wii menu dissappeard.

sound like your booting into preloader should be option to boot to systemmenu try that ill check exact way when i get home if booting to pre loader that a good thing least you know you can recover from it

Aaahh thats nice to hear, yeh seems to boot into preloader and it does let me go into systemsmenu at top but I dont know what to do next dont want to f**k it up anymore, still why has the preloader stayed on and wii menu gone.

u have preloader on still after the format brick ?

try install the 3.2e wads with wad manager from homebrew channel m8 IOS30-64-v1040.wad first then SystemMenu-v290.wad

there's a million ways out.

ARE your hacks still enabled?

Right will try and find 3.2e wads and try and load them on, are the hacks enabled not sure by that what should I be looking for.

How would I determine 3.2e wads cos it originally was on 3.1 then got updated to 3.4 and when I did softmod downgraded to 3.2.

or you could use any region changer to refresh ur 3.2e install, but need internet already setup to do that.

with the wad install you could be in a position to upgrade over Nintendo network to 3.4e and start again, all Ios' in tact.

one more thing, i think Preloader needs boot.dol on the Sd root to run (any region changer, wad manager for example) .dol files. but if you can get in homebrew channel do it that way m8

Wohooo worked a treat got me menu back,had to reset evrything so must ave gone back to factory set but it still stayed on 3.2 and didnt go back to 3.1.

Now when I put a disk in it seems to want to update should I allow that to happen via the disc or the internet connection, I understand if via disk it has to be a pal region original disk, I dont really want to go to 3.4 then downgrade again.

I wanted to take off all of the homebrew hack and any associated files wads iso etc so I can do a fresh install and be confident everything is ok and nt corrupted or should I just leave it on.

Thanks for your help again now just need to know what to do to get the wii disc channel working and how to take homebrew off.

if u want a 'clean' install and arent bothered about homebrew just upgrade to 3.4e via Ninny network. this will knock preloader off as well tho, uninstall it urself first.

u cant get rid of all traces yet.

Right ok so would need to update it up to 3.4 but if everything works ok now like the backup channel etc would I need to update cos when I put wii sports in it asks wanting to update. Appreciate your help.

No you don't need Starfall. Use PreLoader instead. If I were you I wouldn't stay on 3.4 when upgraded but downgrade (again) to 3.2 since 3.4 is able to feck up your Wii (auto update).

Don't know what you've done exactly till this point but I guess it would be a good thing to post everything in steps what you've done. That way it'll be more clearer for everyone what the actual status of your Wii is.

I think it seems ok now although cant play backup and the wii disc channel keeps wanting to upgrade, before I had managed to get backup channel onto the wii menu now I cant and also seems to say hack.ii is missing.

I used to many different mod methods and just need to update it back up to 3.4 and start fresh with just one method and tut.

Which is the best softmod method to do, how can I uninstall preloader so I can update to 3.4 and start fresh.

Disable all hacks in PreLoader, use PreLoader Hack Remover to remove the hacks.ini from the Wii and next use ARC and reinstall System Menu 3.2 or if you'd like to update to 3.4 thats just fine too. PreLoader will be uninstalled.

Updated to 3.4 and started fresh install of softmii 2.1.1 everything going ok until I get to SoftMii Nand Browser which is called SoftMii Nand Dumper and then navigate to directory as below

TITLE/00000001/00000002 – Now Press up on the dpad 3 times and then press A. – Now you need to select your original system menu app file. If you are NTSC, the app file should be 00000042.APP or if you are PAL, the
app file should be 00000045.APP.

Problem is I dont have that I have 00000065.app 00000066.app 00000067.app

I need 00000045.app but its not there.

I am in the right directory - dir/title/00000001/00000002/content.

i wouldn't worry too much about using nand dumper, but that's me. that file is easy enough to find on the net m8

Would like to thank everybody who helped especially english.

Ive got my wii back up and running even dumper is working managed to dump 3 games wireless method and burnt and works fine through the wii disc channel.

Tried dumping a game onto 16gb usb but errors out, didnt know what to choose for parts 512, 1024 etc.

Also havent got the homebrew browser channel and as said in post 17 get those errors dont know if it makes any difference but works fine as far as backup copies are concernd.

Should the internet connection stay on or switched off and can the sd card be took out or left in.

I presume I can add different applications to the sd card if I want as long as its in the relevant places.

If anybody can clear up above concerns for my benefit as well as others who may come across similar probs.

The tuts I found confusing slightly with different folder names other than that its fine.

For the benefit of others my wii was on 3.1 and I softmodded to 3.2 but ran into difficulty when I kept loading different mods onto sd card and maybe corrupted something and eventually did a wii format and lost the wii menu, luckily preloader was still there so was advised to load up the 3.2 wads which bought back the wii menu and eventually updated it back upto 3.4 then downgrade it back to 3.2 and everything is dandy.
