Could it be that the encryption system has been changed?


Hi, I’m new to this forum. I’ve had a Dreambox DM500-C for a few years now and apart from the glitch most of us had earlier in the year it’s been working fine.

A very good friend of mine who has worked for the local cable company for many years as a technical fixer of some sort who also has a DM500-C was telling me last night that all the cable Dreamboxes and other makes will become useless in the new year because of what the cable companies are doing to combat their use. He carried on describing what sounded like a card sharing scheme which will be prevented from use. I must admit, he was a little vague in what he was saying and I've move on to different hobbies so I'm a little out of touch with what's what, but is there any truth in these changes? Can the cable companies easily change the encryption system? He also mentioned that older boxes are being replaced with new Samsung models. Is this the reason?

Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?

All im going to say now is that there were rumours, well not actually rumours, it was on a thread somewhere that Virmin were looking into upping the nagra protection, so maybe this is it, lets just wait and see

my channels have just came back on, took my card out put it into the fridge for 10 minutes, then put it back into my box.
turn the box on when you see LD 20 press the ok and TV button together and the card updates. I can't believe it, totally works lol

I also had covered myself in honey but thats more of fetish but, hey that could be the trick for it working
