Got banned !! xbox live

I am suprised noone has got any closer to modding the core of the 360 by now? Or is it a case, that most reasons for modding a console is to play backups, so cause we have a solution noone is really trying?

Just to add a bit of info, I flashed the drive on my brother in laws samsung ages ago, over a year at least, and he got a ban today, I think the it was extreme and not iextreme.

Strange thing is that he has not played any backup games in at least 6-8 weeks maybe longer, the only thing he has done recently is to download the COD demo/beta from Live. So either his box got flagged ages ago for something, or they can tell the drive is flashed or............. something else

The only games he ever plays are FIFA & R6V, both proper retail versions and not copies, he paid for these games because he wanted to make sure his console never got banned, lol should have saved his money for a new console.

My box is still not banned yet, I very rarely buy games. but then I don't use it that much either, but it has one of the newer iextreme firmware on.

Well, I done it.

I managed to restore my Gamertag no problem from my Memstick, then i went in to copy all my shit from the mem stick to the hard drive and I noticed that they had deleted the Media Update!

When doing the system update I had unplugged the memstick just to make sure that my gamertags, saved games and Divx codec would be safe, but as soon as I connect teh mem stick into the console it must have scrubbed the codec.

Dirty bastards, lol

New dash is nice, not great but a pleasant change, nice easy access to your Achievements etc.

Tried to play Divx, it prompts me to download the media update (codec).

It's as much part of the Dashboard as the last Dashboard, no difference, it'll play if the codec is present.

Yes, but I don't have an unbanned console

And even if I did then I'd need to use the unbanned console for Divx, you can't migrate a media update from one console to another, it MUST be downloaded from Microsoft directly onto the console which will be doing the playback, this is for licencing reasons, Microsoft pay a fee for every console which uses the DivX codec, that's why they don't include it automatically in every new dashboard update, they only want people that want to use it to have it as it keeps licencing cost to a minimum, it also means they can tell how many people are using DivX. - does that make sense?

Theres a few games around that do not check out fully in xdvdmulleter see the Database @ abgx
theres not a fully safe Gow2 pal ver on the torrents /newsgroups etc etc from what ive read
, only Kreon home rips appear safe
Theres also so many pre releases that have updates on them and its generally assumed the 360 knows what you've played even without a hd on ...So MS do also
it looks like bad rips are to blame again complacency set in lol i played a few games i never even checked or cared tbh on my banned 360
There could be more new detection methods but then again there may not ..
I may risk the copy of gears i have now online only has a Bad CRC everything else checks out :banana:
on unbanned tosh ms28 iXtreme firmware 1.4 freshly flashed and see if i get a ban ...

So the way to go now would be borrowing or renting games from stores then ripping them yourself.

Im thinking maybe MS would be more inclined to leave people with subs alone, and go after people that use pre-paid cards>?

just turned on me console to go on live and im banned and i use my credit card linked to my account so it isnt that only had it done three bloody weeks what a pisser

What i dont understand is why they dont just indentify modded consoles then issue an update which stops the console working completely.

Is stopping people on live really going to stop people ripping off games. Surely those who do such things are going to not bother with mulleter and the like now and stick any old disk in the drive ! Its hardly saving microsoft money !!

No, your console serial ID is blocked at ms server side.

Although, it's people like you that could help weed out false suspicions on why were were banned this time around.

What games did you play within this period mate?

To answer your other question, yes you can swap the drive into the unbanned console and go back on live - remember you will need to extract the dvd key from the old faulty drive 1st and flash it into your working drive.

No, your console serial ID is blocked at ms server side.

He wouldn't be using the banned console though mate, all he wants to do is remove the DVD drive from the banned console, flash it with the key from the unbanned console and go on Live, it would work no problem.

just got banned there and ive only had it done a month i think it was saints row 2 that done it as it was the review copy everyones talking about but had the ntsc version of gow2 which might of done it.
