Digital World EXCLUSIVE! SPEED CAMERA DATABASE!

when i make my own POIs for my misses ( she has to go doctor's clinics in leicestershire and rutlandshire ) i use POIedit and google earth ,sometimes you can even the camera in your local area on google earth and then get you will see the long lat etc on the botton or the program

i google earth go into tools ,where is says in show lat\Long put the setting to Decimal degrees. hope this helps

By the way, this was obviously sarcasm! Seriously though, if 'the other site' really pushed it with a solicitor couldn't they still hold you to blame? I would have thought it like receiving stolen goods?

MM

How would we know lol even if the other site had the same cameras lol

These cameras are locations on the road they can be put in by any member or even unregistered we are not stopping any person from submitting cameras.... you cannot steal something that is on the road in daylight for everyone to see.

I would not class it like handling stolen goods lmao that would be crackers and i already have my own solicitor they could argue this with them that is what i pay them for.

Like i said if members want to submit cameras from someone else's work then how could we determine what is not right and what is ?

But that site in question (and they are not the only camera database!) can not really complain they are fooking greedy fookers because they are earning money from others hard work and want the market to themselfs and they will be the losers in the long run because there members will work out they are being ripped off for strings of longitude and latitude!

It was one of the easiest things i have made this database and i would not want to charge someone to use our database that would be a little out of order using people because they cannot think of these kind of things.

I like this idea of the DW camera database, even when u only have a few locations of cameras (but by the sound of it is going well) I like most people will be able to run the two databases together and will be able to check two things

1) Check location of physical cameras we pass against the dw database and the other one and if not in we can add.

2) and then the other way check what is in the database is actually there.

the members will have to be the eyes of whoever will be in control of the database, today whilst out and about working i went passed a camera that is not in the other database but in DW's now :) and 1 that their database said was there but i know was taken out about 9 months ago.

i know it is early days yet you obviously have a method for us to input new sites will you be setting up something for us to report incorrect info ?

can i ask the bmp icons be significantly different from the other database so we can run the two togther in the short term.

i know this might be asking questions a bit before you are ready but it does seem a very popular idea with the number of hits on the thread, so it looks like we are all keen as mustard :)

@hamba i just need sme time and i will make a way to report bad ones aswell

Its fantastic that so many cameras have been added there is allot of guests submitting fooking shed loads and also the members aswell....

but the main thing is we could be sabotaged by the actual sites with a database ?

what would stop them from adding cameras to our database that are from theres that are actually used as there copyright purposes ?

Like the patge - great. One thing though.

Any chance we could have the option of using KPH as well as MPH speeds for us in the metric world.

Hi mickie d & david h

guys any news on the database, and when it might make an appearance ?

is it just you guys needing time to sort or do we need to input more data ?

:proud:

not far off but keep inputing the more the better

I get an error popup when i visit the site- something about a registered key being for a different site, then when I clear the error the map is not displayed.

Using IE7.

Works in Firefox 3 and the emulate IE7 mode in IE8. Breaks in IE8 when emulate 7 is turned off, but that might be an issue with the maps API rather than anything else.

Do I need to install anything special?

I've already got the latest version of Google Earth installed.

Not as far as I'm aware, I think its something admin will have to sort.

I'm sure it started to appear when Mickie moved the POI entry system to the satnav page, I don't know why the error doesn't appear in Firefox or IE8 but does in IE7.

IIRC I get the same error in work on IE6, but I won't be able to check until Sunday.
