VU+ Duo Clone - 3.1.1 Kernel Update - Released - Anti Clone Measures Defeated For Now

Ferarri Team have released an update for the Security IC chip on Clone VU DUO recievers that now allow all newer images with the 3.1.1 Kernel andf latest drivers to be used. This is encouraging news indeed maybe the clone VU DUO will be well supported after all.

VU introduced anti clone measures into drivers from the start of 2012. Up until now clone VU DUO recievers were unable to run images with the 3.1.1 Kernel and the newer drivers.

I do not own a clone DUO. But reports elsewhere suggest the update is working on all 3.1.1 Kernel images including Blackhole 1.7.2 etc..

Yes gsmtech thats correct i tried the update this morning and all is working 100% on my Clone Duo, Took all of 30 seconds to update.

Just wondering why we cant up the files here for other members who may struggle to find them, there is also a Clone Solo version as well.

Ferrari team are on the ball for a change which is nice to see.

We can upload the files here, I just didnt bother doing it yesterday. I have attached the files to the original post now. It is indeed good to see Ferarri team on the ball. One of only things preventing me buying a clone DUO was the possibility of poor software support..but this is an ecouraging development.

Yes you can i am currenty running BH 1.7.2 with the latest drivers as well all working 100%

Just an Update Ferrari have in the last 2 days released 2 new versions of this update the one i have posted here is the latest Revision 3, The only difference is this one will let you go back to older images if you prefer, There is nothing wrong with the other files so no need to be alarmed that is the only change with this loader

Where can I get the 232 adapter, didn't get with box as it was sold as genuine but got a clone.(its been Flashed with the first patch i think)

if it was sold as genuine then get your money back!! all the duo/solo clones have these update leads in the box from the manufacturer so the person you bought it off must have removed it... you should name and shame him as he,s a tosser in my eyes, regards mdt

Im still waiting for a partial refund as I would have been about £35 out of pocket as he would not refund postage both ways. After I get refund We will see.

whats the latest images we can use with these clone vu duo's guys, does vix 2.4 work, i tried the latest blackhole image the other night and couldnt get it to load, just stuck on starting, also my clone is a v2!

Any Blackhole image up to 1.7.5 and any Vix image up to 2.4.155

as i thought tis an easy fix, using the same method for dreambox clones... if you want the latest build 2.4 vix running but keeping the old drivers.

tested on a mates clone duo.

install vix 2.4 -151
then edit the "status" file in the below location

/usr/lib/opkg/

in this status file look for this section

Package: vuplus-dvb-modules
Version: 3.1.1-r16.20120228
Depends: kernel-3.1.1, update-modules
Provides:
Status: install ok installed
Architecture: vuduo
Installed-Time: 1339430040
Auto-Installed: yes

notice the version says 28-02-2012 drivers
now we edit this line to read 28-06-2012 which are the latest vuplus drivers. like so:-

Package: vuplus-dvb-modules
Version: 3.1.1-r16.20120628
Depends: kernel-3.1.1, update-modules
Provides:
Status: install ok installed
Architecture: vuduo
Installed-Time: 1339430040
Auto-Installed: yes

once done, save the file
telnet into box
then type

job done, now clone running vix 2.4 - 213 with older drivers.

It's never been said that the Newer ViX 2.4 images above build 155 would not work with older drivers just no one else other than you ( publicly ) bothered to try thats all.

The fact however still remains that until ferrari bring out a fix for the anti clone measures no image that contains the newer drivers will work on a clone, the ANTI CLONE measures have always been in the drivers and not the image, there has never been any secret of that.

ye but i think people would rather have the latest image albeit it with the last set of drivers. this has been the case for years with dreamboxes.
and when ferrari do patch the IC for latest drivers its a good bonus and then you can install latest drivers.

what i did above is nothing new, as stated its the same method used for dreamboxes.

Depends on how you look at it some new images are just recycled versions of the last one with nothing new except the drivers, then again some may incorporate a new feature that will only work with the new drivers which defeats the object of installing a new image but use old drivers that cannot take full advantage of the feature.

I know where your coming from it has been done for years on DM's and will probably continue to do so.

Can this work with clone vu+solo.I also heard that a serial to usb does not work and on xp windows only . Is this true?
