Hi Guys,
I just fixed up a 60GB original release model.
The YLOD repair seems to have been successful. Unfortunately I get about 5 mins into a game and the video goes all weird (red and green blotches). this occurs for about 3 seconds then the system locks up.

I realise it is getting hot, but is this as a result of too many reflows?

I did spill "some" no clean flux on top of the die, which has left a stain on it?
Would this have an effect?

Do I need to reflow the GPU again? Maybe I put too much flux on it, I am quite liberal with it lol

Has anyone else had this and successfully fixed it?

Cheers,
JohnO

sounds like to me the Video Chip is more or less knacked. You could try and re heat it, but doubt it'll have much good.
As with the heating, it's meant to reline the solder around the chips. But if you need reheating it, risk of not losing some solder around the chips.

have heard of people replacing the video chip. Don't know how much truth is in it. im sure if someone knows more about it, they will let you know in here

Yeah, I agree. The things buggered. Reflowed tonight and went even quicker.

oh well, at least i've got the laser sic.

Cheers,
JohnO
