anyone else found that when they have the duo plugged in via ethernet that it kills the internet?
i have BT infinity (using the HH3 and tried using dreytek miode/router) and get 30mb connection however i find somedays my internet is slow running at 5mb or sometimes even 0.01mb and as soon as i unplug the duo's ethernet cable from the back of the router the speed shoots back up again. ive also tried a new cat5 incase it was a bad cable. same thing happens

my dad (whos got bt adls with a HH2) also says sometimes the same thing happens with him

i bought a duo when they first came out, and found that after 40 mins, my net would die. i found that it was down to the cam emulator i was using, MGcamD, and people said it wont work on the duo and you must use CCcam, which i was not prepared to do, so i looked into it

it turned out that the cam was trying to send a log file, and this was causing whats similar to a ddos attack within my own network, unplugging the duo stopped this 'attack' and resetting it stopped it for another 40 minutes

the culprit was in the mg_cfg file, options {L} & {D} if i remember rightly, both had to be completley disabled

HI digidude how do i disable {L} & {D} ?
my wife is also moaning at me because the cam keep switching off so when she comes down in the working its a black screen (untill she restarts the cam) and then shes found all her recordings overnight have just recorded a black screen

i am also using cccam2.3.0 and mgcamd 1.56 on my duo

also do you know on the channel info bar when you record REC is red. but there is a cirle to left of it with a ring around it. sometimes that flashes green what does this mean?

grant if you want to try what didgi said then go to your mg_cfg file this is mine below

# Log option, summ of:
# 00 off
# 01 network udp log
# 02 log to console
# 04 file, appended ! delete it by yourself, before it eat all your hdd
# + IP udp-port log-file-name
L: { 03 } 172.16.1.1 28007 /tmp/mgcamd.log
as you can see mine is { 03 } change to { 00 } for off

then
# debug, summ of
# 00 off (default)
# 01 debug ecm
# 02 debug emm
# 04 debug network ecm
# 08 debug network emm
# 16 debug network login
# 32 show mem/cpu stats every 1 min
# 64 add timestamp to log messages
D: { 00 }
again chage it to 00 if you have any no in it but please befor you change anything back the file up to a safe pleace just in case you mess up so you can just put the working one back in
sorry dont no about your other problem as my daughter has my 800 all the best tony

thanks tony, i have made the changes now.. will see how it goes. will this also stop the issue of me having to keep restarting the mgcamd all the time?

I havent had this issue..but I dont use mgcamd.

if using N lines would you say there is a big difference between using cccam or mgcamd?
i know they say N lines you should use mgcamd

the green thing with circle round it flashing means that an image update is available (on the vix image) but, when ive used the vix image, it seems to be nearly always flashing as theyre always updating stuff, numerous times a day, im sure that in the software update menu you can disable the check for updates bit, which stops it from checking, and flashing to inform you of the available update

a weeks gone by and the changed to the mg_cfg seemed to have made the difference :) no restarting cams and no internet being killed

hi guys
so alls been well on the mgcamd killing my internet however i added 2 more vu+duo in my house this week for other rooms
and ive used the same amended mg_cgf file (with values on L and D set to 00 rather than 03 on the 2 new boxes however when these are connected via eithernet its killing my newwork again (2mb down from 30mb)

i have double checked and the correct mg_cfg file is loaded on the box anything else i can try?
i cant see the option to upload the file but i can copy n paste the code..
