Hi, there

2 days ago my sb5100i & my samsung 2100 tv box went down in stafford. I am getting really weird info from my equipment. basically i am in stafford & the freq for the modems is normally 402750000, well it now seems i can't even get a freqency lock on the modem at all. The modem appears to be flashing the recieve light, (as if there was no signal coming through the line no more). Ok thats the modem, well my samsung 2100 tv box reports that is got a signal & its locked in the engineers screen, however im getting no channels, all boots fine but i just get a blank screen nearly all the channels, the netid is 00015 for my area & i have freq set to 826.250. I have no problems with the equipmet in the past few months at all. the samsung is using a funcard. & it switched over to the virgin media software around 2-3 weeks ago which has also been fine untill the other day. actually a few free to air channels do work. So the line is definatley active right? (cause the box reports a signal locked in engineers)

Really need urgent help especailly with the broadband.

Is there anyone out there who knows if anything has changed in my area? freq, configs, do i need newer firmware on my modem, i have been using this config: cmreg-ntlhm120-mid.cm & sigma x 1.06 beta files for my sb5100i for as long i can remember, my area used to be a pure ntl, so not sure whats going on, i first thought i had been given the snip by an nt; engineer as the modem refuses to lock. Should i be using newer firmware, have virgin changed something in my area. any thoughts. anyone?????

Best Regards & wish me good luck!

a few weeks ago the frequency for Leics area (Pure N*L) changed to 331000000 the same as TW might be something similar. I posted all the new freqs in another thread might be worth taking a look.

i dont have a "proper" cable modem or tv box to try. But i did manage to connect to next doors router, & tried 192.168.100.1 & found there modem is still working fine on the original 402750000 freq. Still stumped. gonna try one last time flashing modem agian. Is there anyone who can recommed a better version of firmware for the sb5100i in a pure ntl (virgin) area, i was using sigma x 1.06 beta upuntill things went horrible.

Cheers everyone so far

Tbh i would stick with the original moto fw & just change the mac with a blackcat ive been using it for months and its never gone off. I have probs with sigma on any modem it doesnt seem to like me one min it works then it dont lol.

You could try Sigma X 125, I have attached it here for you ;)

i been using sigma x2 with no trouble...i think........i like the fact that the standby button works.

Hey. Got it working. freq was the same just had to keep reflashing the modem loads of times. eventually got it to work with the sigma x 1.06 rc4. but i really dont wanna mess with it but i would like to of tried the sigma x2 posted by MONKey (thanks).

Similar situation with the samsung 2100 tv, re-wrote funcard few times to get it to work & hey presto the talkback light started flashing agian! But im getting really bad images on a few of the channels, slow images kind of like a crap video stream file on the net, with mumbled sound aswell sometimes.

Does anyone have any ideas's what's causing this, would this be regarded as a signal quality/power issue in my area. As i have never had a problem in my house before with signal, (at one time i had 2x samsung 2100 & 2x 10mb sb5100i all working fine). If so, would this cause my equipment to go off like it did on the weekend?

thank you to everyone who made a post here. :)

could u please tell me what black cat software u used as i am having a nightmare with a 5101e got no lights on and have been told its took a bad flash and they tought it could of been due to the blackcat software i uesed
the build i used was 128 but i here there is a 130 out and i should habve used that

any ifo on this would be much apprecited !

cheers yorkie1

Hi, i got everything to work with:

sigma x 1.06 rc4 & used blackcat build 115( quite old, i know), i have seen a post about in the downloads for build 130. haven't tried it yet through

Trust me thats the most common problems i have is flashing the modem then after the inital blink of lights....nothing happens none of the led's light up. I just keep flashing, i also find if i flash the memory in full as well, i have a better sucess rate.

Best of luck.

Glad you got it working but the Sigma X 1.06 RC$ is VERY buggy at the least.

I would leave it for now if you don't want to be messing again and when the modem fails on you (Which I am pretty sure the RC4 firmware will at some point in the not too distant future) just put the X2 125 firmware on I posted as I have had zero problems when using it ;)
