I have been using Virgin Broadband Advisor on a cloned modem?

Is this OK!

As when it loads I think it checks to see if you have an account with them!

Which I do for my subbed modem.

Is there any way they can tell?

And what about receiving e-mails on a clone?

It don't look as if they have caught you yet! I would reckon that they would just disable you if they caught you rather than waste their time taking it any further.

Logging into any cc provided service would be a silly thing to do as it will log the IP of the clone modem with your account details.

Using 3rd party e-mail and services should be ok.

Seriously, your just asking to get caught.

stay off virgin media newsgroups aswell on a clone as this also uses your login ect..............

You can luse the newsgroups without a password to pull stuff off..
If you want to post, I think you have to log in.

Thanks for all the Info!

I now start up my PC with my subbed modem and let it log on and update PCguard

And if I need to download a large file
I disable my Network Connection "Local Area Connection" = 4Mb Subbed
and enable my Wireless Network Connection = 20Mb Clone

I hope this is OK!

As the modem is cloned (ie it looks legit at VM end), there shouldn't be any problem using the Broadband Advisor.
On the other hand, as the modem mac is outside of the area it 'should' be in..that may look unusual should anyone go through the logs at VM. That said, that would be applicable to any cloned modem regardless of usage!!
Frankly, if you have 16 modems thru Wingate and download like its going outta fashion, you might get caught.
If you have 1 cloned modem its possible to get caught but unlikely, as things stand.

My two-penneth worth.
