USBs not recognised by TM6900HD Super

Hi, I am seeking advice on whether I can re-instate my USB's (two) on my TM6900HD Super which have BOTH suddenly stopped being recognised?
My PVR external hard disc is usually plugged into the rear USB (slave one according to Technomate) and I have nearly 100 recordings I now cannot play back!
The front USB I use for patches and softcam updates, but am now having to use the old trusty serial cable method, but which is far from convenient as compared to USB/memory stick!
I have done a Factory reset, switched off using toggle button at the back, powered off from wall, reloaded the software, the channel lists, etc etc but still find TM6900HD cannot recognise the two USB's, so am running out of ideas and just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and can suggest a solution please? : gun ::thankz:

I have a had a different peculiar problem with my 6800 non super in that the EPG no longer worked, but it was solved by deleting unused transponders and unused channels (such as radio on foreign satellites and encrypted channels on satellites for which I have no card)

This, I think, is because at least one of these separate lists has become full after a scan with unpredictable results!

I also believe that sometimes transponders 'appear' in one satellite's list that have been duplicated from another satellite, so when you have a little time:Biggrin2:, you can , a satellite at a time, go through deleting all those transponders with no signal

Good luck

Thanks mate, but that is not my problem at all, think you may have misunderstood me?
Its my two USB's (front & rear) which are no longer recognised at boot vup - after being fine for nearly three years!

Had same problem on my 6800 non super few years ago (sold it on the bay stating the fault it had).
This did happen after my 6800 was unplugged from main for few days, once switch back the usb feature "vanished" and the 6800was unable to "see" any usb device ...

My local satellite guy came to have a look (he is tm "specialist" as he only install their receivers); I dont know if we are talking about exactly the same problem, but simply said there was nothing to do with it, unless changing some "expensive" component... I MUST MAKE CLEAR, he did not try to simply sell me another box, as HE told me to get a new one from the wizard, now wizmaster, as their retail price was better than his.

The only explanation he gave me was that at some point I must have loaded a "corrupt file" (softcam/firmware)... and as long as tm was plugged in/on standby it would not have developed the glitch...once powered back on the usb feature was gone.
REALLY dont know if you powered off your receiver, if you didnt then he could have told me fibs, only repeating what I was told.
To be honest it doesnt seem to be a common fault as you are the first one to report the same problem I encountered 3/4 years ago, discussed on another forum ...I was taken for a joke.
Sorry I cant help better than this.

Oh by the way, if phantom/technomate had some kind of explanation for this I am still happy to know what happened to my stb few years ago.
The guy named the component which needed to be changed but cant recall the name of the part, would this make any sense for a dead internal usb reader ?

Did you try reformatting the usb devices in the usb manager menu after you backup the recordings you want to keep on your computer
that worked for me before and once formatted turn of your tm at the back before doing any thing else and then turn back on after a few minutes
this might do the trick

or maybe as cfipro says there is a problem in your usb ports if your computer still regonizes the devices and the tm doesn't at all(not even message saying usb device inserted ?)
could you test on your e-sata port with a e-sata to usb device adapter/cable
or maybe contact technomate.uk yourself and see what advice they have they are said to be very helpfull on the phone by many members.

Hi all - and thanks very much for your input, some with very similar symptoms to MY experience!
Only difference is that I never normally totally power off my TM6900HD Super, but usually leave it on standby when not in use - and it hadn't been powered off when I switched on from standby as normal on Tuesday morning!!
As for reformatting my memory stick and PVR external 500GB hard disc, well surely the danger would be that of losing all the data stored on them when can't really afford to?
Technomate did offer to have my stb back in to investigate & hopefully mend, but obviously at a price as it's way out of warranty now!
Any more thoughts would be gratefully received!

Oh yes, nearly forgot, my memory stick reads perfectly into my pc USB, so can only assume my fat32 formatted ext hard disc will too, but will try later!
So you see its my TM6900HD which is not recognising the presence of any USB's!

Half way up a mountain, middle of nowhere. I've se
sounds like the internal power supply is begining to fail m8, have you also had any issues with the motor moving, or receiving channels on horizontal polarity?

how handy are you with a screwdriver and soldering iron m8, as if its what i think it is, itll cost less than a quid to fix

the person who posted that theirs went faulty after turning it off, this is common with failing power supplies, theyll keep going untill theyre powered off, the capacitors discharge, then when theyre powered back on, the surge causes them to completley fail

if you lift the lid off the receiver, and look at the power supply board, youll see small 'cans' , if the tops of these are slightly bulging, thats your problem and they need replacing

Holmroad, I had a similar problem to this with my computer a while back, which turned out to be lint in the usb ports - a quick once-over with the vacuum cleaner hose sucked out the lint and the usb was back to normal - the odd thing was that the usb stick would power up (as witnessed by the flashing lights) but would not be recognized. It must be worth a try.

I have successfully connected both my external hard disc and memory stick to my pc totally normally so I'm still left with no USB recognition on my TM6900HD Super being the problem!

Hi mate, only thing here is that BOTH my TM6900HD Super USB ports are failing to be recognised, even after loading new firmware etc, so my feeling now is that its a hardware problem and I may need a professional to sort it for me?

if possible m8, upload a nice clear photo of the power supply board, if you can get one from above, and one ro 2 looking at it diagonally from above
Hi mate, thanks for all your help, I do really appreciate it!
Only problem is I have my system (54" TV, TM6900, Slybox, WiFi Panasonic control box, Bluray, external audio system) installed within a great black cabinet etc and unless I really have to its easier to leave the TM6900HD Super, with all its connections, until I really HAVE to as its very hard to get at it properly - you see at moment I CAN still use the serial cable method for updates and at least its working normally in every OTHER way - apart from duff USB's!
My satellite guy will have a look at it (I hope!) when he returns off holiday and in any case I'm considering part X it for a TM5402HD once the 6900HD is sorted!
I know I'm a coward, but it really is a swine to get at to take out! Hope you understand mate?
