Upcoming Redsn0w Update Will Support Downgrading Of iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad (3rd Gen), Restore Without iTunes
With Apple having released iOS 5.1.1 to the end-user in the last couple of days, the various dev teams have been hard at work in updating their respective jailbreak tools to recognize the latest iteration of the Cupertino’s mobile OS. None have been more dogmatic in their approach than the iPhone Dev Team, and as per MuscleNerd via Twitter, the latest version of Redsn0w will include downgrade capabilities for the very newest additions to the iDevice roster.
Although many will have happily updated, there are many reasons why you may wish to revert back, and since Apple doesn’t allow this to happen, we rely on the likes of the iPhone Dev Team to provide us with the solution. Having already enabled A4 devices to be downgraded, the Redsn0w tool is now being brought up to speed to allow those wielding an iPad 2/3 or iPhone 4S to downgrade their software back to an earlier version – providing, of course, that SHSH blobs and APTicket have been stored away in a safe place.
