iPhone Unlocking iphone

I have just been asked to unlock one of the inlaws Iphone.

I have never even used one yet, but I have done PSP, wii ect.

I have plenty to read late, all I know at the moment is the phone is locked to O2, 32meg and on V3.1.3.

1st can it be done, do I need any more information before I start and to save time (he wants it done before he goes on Sunday) is there Idiots guide available?

Would Sn0wbreeze and Ultrasn0w be the correct way?

Download spirit mate, and it will JB it easy, takes about 10 seconds. You may want to grab the SHSH blobs using umberella or something, there are plenty of tuts around to help on that.

Google spirit if your unsure of where to get it. Should have a guide with it too mate, or even a guide somewhere here.

depends what you mean by lock screen, if you mean the 4 pin lock code then you can restore the phone in DFU mode which will reset the phone to factory settings.
But if "find my iphone" (apple id activation) is enabled then you have a door stop .... unless you know the apple id and password linked to the phone.
personally id hand it into the local cop shop and see if they could find the original owner.
