Still Lost and Looking for a Better Place.
Here we go again, another TV show that is supposedly showing the "typical" benefits claimant.
I am sure these programmes are made and shown to purposely turn the ordinary tax paying working man against any and every person on benefits.
This show reveals his large family of his own and step kids and heavily pregnant wife, and one scene shows him stealing shopping from the open boot of someone's car ! and excusing it as "off the back of a lorry" "off the back of a car" "what's the difference?"
This isn't a typical benefit claimant, this is thieving scum !!
Yes, I'm on benefit, yes as this guy will also claim I have worked and paid into the system for years, but no matter how skint I get I would never stoop so low as to steal somebody's shopping from the back of their car.
I like many others I know who have worked and paid their taxes and national insurance (which is meant as an insurance policy against being out of work for whatever reason and like an insurance policy you pay it and hope that you don't need to claim) and have now fallen on hard times, we have Morals !!!
But programmes like this stir up feelings against those on benefits and make those lucky enough to be healthy and working treat all benefits claimants as if we were the same as this type of scum and believe me this is really hurtful and does enforce the feelings of depression that are already there because we are no longer the breadwinners, no longer able to provide the family with the odd treat, no longer able to switch the heating up because it's still cold in May.
You feel that your integrity is questioned at every turn, it feels like nobody believes a word you say, it feels like you have been demoted to a 3rd class citizen.
It isn't a bed of roses surviving on benefits, because I have had the temerity to appeal against the ATOS assessment of my condition (which is opposed to my GP and Hospital Specialists opinion) I was put on the assessment level of benefit which is £26 a week less than the basic payment, and I have waited over 18 months for the appeal to be heard......................it is for this type of reason that many do not appeal, not because they are falsely claiming as the government would have you believe.
Anyway, Rant over. I am just trying to say please don't believe we are all scum like those portrayed in this programme.

I hope they use this scum as an example to others and take all there benefits off them. I am sick of hearing about these fecking lowlife bleeding the country dry. @D 8 RCS dont let these barstewards get to you again mate it's not worth making yourself ill over. Chin up mate. :(

It seems the media and government want the working class to turn on each other while the upper classes lord it over everyone. Anyone with a bit of sense and who doesn't read the daily mail as if it were a bible should realise not all claimants are scum like this guy. To the op keep on fighting mate we know your not a scrounger.

Ooh, err Mrs! Well first, the Daily Mail is not the only guilty party - all media have their own leanings and present (or should that be spin?) in their own way. Is it just the working class? Maybe it's more everyone affected by reality I.e. not rich ;)

OP - best ignore them, they're idiots....

How can it be realistic or fair to reduce someone's income based on spare room(s) yet be unable to offer an alternative?

Why batter on about benefit fraud when it's such a relatively tiny number?

What is it about immigration that the debate can't take place because it's racist?

Which part of 'the economy is more important than gay marriage' do you not understand?

Yep, divide and conquer really does work!

Tory propaganda, this new bedroom tax drove a poor women to take her life.

I am interested to see this car crash tv and the way it portrays S****horpe tonight , lived here all my life and obviously know what areas are shit tips full of scum and witch ones have good up standing citizens but I'm curious to see how bad this program will have been made

Not many bikers these days still a few die hards and the scooter boys get out and about now and again , defiantly plenty of c**ts though ;)

Haven't watched it yet but judging by my face book it's exactly as expected

Just caught the end of the programme (unfortunately).....why do they glorify these lazy chav tw@ts!!!

Doh .......I thought working and paying into the system was enough.....how stupid of me

It's so that you associate anyone on benefits with these type of wasters and scammers and when the government say we will cut this benefit and that benefit you will give a loud cheer and say "Bloody Right, lazy bastard have it easier than me"
Unfortunately that is not the truth for the majority who are genuine cases, and remember it could so easily be you needing that safety net.

I saw the program last night but dont think he stole shopping from a car , him and others were buying meat and chicken from a guy selling it from the boot of his car, in an area of the estate where they were saying " you can get anything " . Must admit though that the bloke with big family didnt piss me off as much as the loud mouth kid swearing at his mom and police and acting like some big shot and making lives of people living around miserable .Roaming around on motorcycles and scooters day and night , illegal dogs , fighting list goes on & on. I know when i was a kid being on benefits was shameful, everyone worked , but now its become a way of life to live on benefits.
These lot have it cushy compared to people in other countries where if you don't work you die as there is no benefits.

Unfortunately it's the way they're brought up by their parents and it'll just be passed onto their next generation.

I know this slightly detracts from the reasoning of the thread, but I thought it pertinent to share something with you.

My God Daughter and her boyfriend moved into their first flat together about 5 weeks or so ago, bearing in mind she has a condition for which she get's benefits (long story, but its justified given she has to have injections into every joint in her body every 2-3 months), anyway even with that they are struggling despite her boyfriend working full time to try and make ends meet, so much so that after they moved in I had to drop food around to them (yet another story and don't get me onto the parents).

Anyway, shortly after this he essentially got told he was losing his job, bad timing really but anyway he went to the local benefits office last week. After they worked it out THEY told him it wasn't worth working and that essentially he could earn more by being out of work.......I mean what the hell, surely these people should be trying to get people to work, not sitting there and actually telling a 20 year old kid that it's OK to sponge of the state for the next 40 years, especially when there is no valid reason for him not to work.

Even with her situation (which neither of them ever use as any type of excuse), he wants to work, he's asked me so many times, I've given him pointers, wrote his CV etc, but how can he when there are muppets like this working in our benefits system.

My only contact with the benefits office was a few months in 1995. At the time, it seemed as if the staff were paid in relation to the amounts handed out.

But, that was long ago, and if jobs are simply not available, I can understand the current advice, if they're struggling. It's really a system / culture failure.

My worry is that it will get worse, as the EU's unemployed head for the most generous benefit system, and you can't blame them, the fault is here.

I'm not suggesting our unemployed benefit system is generous, but it must appear so from elsewhere.

I saw the show but that was no surprise to me. I manage a team of employment advisors (on the work programme) and I see this shit everyday. There are some really health people that come out with the same shit time and time again when offered a job: "I'm not getting out of my bed for £30 a week more than my benefits" now this is not just £30 but it's £30 more than they currently get which is £71. This is after a benefits calculation which takes into account travel costs and rent and other bits.

Then on the other hand I've seen people come in having earned good money previously, take a job that most wouldn't if in the same position.

But...........................................the change is coming and believe me there's going to be either a riot of masses leaving the country. Universal credits is just the start and that in itself has already weeded out some claimants on benefits they shouldn't be entitled to. Mandatory community work will soon follow and those who don't participate will get their benefits stopped and this includes ESA (WRAG)

Hold on to your hats claimants...........it's going to get rough!!
