trying to instal a mini pci wireless card

and this is what i get on boot up my computer is a compaq nc4000 running a pentium m processer i have heard that hp have a lock in the bios or csmos for excepting other cards other than there own this one is a intel pro wireless has anyone any info on how to remove the lock so it accepts this card... this is what i get Unauthorized network card is plugged in
Power off and remove the miniPCI network card.
