Trackability/ talk back

After reading one of the previous posts regarding tracability and talk back i was wondering if anybody can tell me if an old Scientific Atlanta 8602 analogue box would talk back to the network or is just one way being analogue.

If the box does talk back to the network how could i stop it.

Also if my experiments with this box work i'm thinking of migrating to digital as i think telewest will be shutting off their analogue service sometime next year. Can anyone recommend what would be the best box to use and how to set it up.
