For me a good film is one you can keep watching again and again.
Well up on my list is:-
Groundhog day.
 
mine would be out of:

green mile
saving private ryan
matrix
shawshank redemption
 
there are so many good uns

funny filmes gotta be out of

life of brian
blazzing saddles (both make me laugh out loud every time i watch em)

serious films out of

pappilon (never rated s mcqueen till i saw this film)
shawshank redemption
midnight express

looking at that list u may think ive got a thing about prison, i didnt think i had till ive seen the list written down :)

Forgot about *Tears of The Sun* runs my Saving Private Ryan on a level pegging

that good that Ultimate Force Ross Kemp copied the script in the last episode

Interesting! "Shawshank" and "Green Mile" seem to be the favourites so far.
Same writer (Steven King) and same director (Frank Darabont) for both films.
