My work as a van driver servicing all the M&S stores throughout London and surrounding area's involves most of my routes being in and around the city of London and West End of London. If any of you's work around there ur no what it's like for bloody cyclist playing Russian roulette with the traffic, weaving in and around you all the time as well as pedestrians just stepping out in front of you thinking they own the road... Anyway read this what has happened to me, and the guy has reported the incident as an injury...

I was travelling from my previous place of work (Fenchurch Street) back to my office located in Woolwich. There were 3 lanes of traffic on a one way system around Aldgate. I was travelling in lane 2. The traffic was slightly heavy, due to the start of the rush hour and also being in the city of London. The traffic was bumper to bumper stop start stop start. There was a motorbike on my left hand side which was edging into my lane, which edged me Slightly towards lane 3. The white van in lane 3 hooted his horn to warn me he was there. I then merged back into lane 2. I then had a cyclist weaving around me. I was at that time accelerating with the traffic. I was double checking my left hand side wing mirror and blind spot mirror to see where the cyclist had gone and without realising within a split second the traffic had come to a halt at the traffic lights, causing me drive into the rear of a taxi. The taxi merged forwards towards the right hand side in the crossroads ahead and stopped. The Taxi driver got out of the vehicle and from what I remember I think there was a passenger in the rear of the Taxi whom also got out. The lights turned green as for which I quickly turned left into Commercial Road to park my van and go to see the Taxi driver. The one way system that I was on was a double red route as also so was commercial Road. I then turned a sharp left again where I parked on double yellow lines as safe to do so. I then got out of my van and turned back into Commercial Road (on Foot) heading back towards the incident. I then realised the Taxi had gone.
Not knowing what else to do, I then drove to the local Police station which is the only one that I knew around that area which is located at Bishops gate / Liverpool Street station. I explained what had happened at the front desk, for which I was told, the road which this happened in comes under the Metropolitan Police. The station that I was at comes under City of London Police. I was advised to complete an incident report form and they would forward this onto the Bethnal Green police station. They also advised that this would take about 2 weeks to get onto the system at which point they would then contact me / my office with an incident report number. I mentioned if I could have some form of receipt for reporting this, as for which they have given to me and I have handed this to my office. Due to the above mentioned statement I have made, I have no details of the other vehicle or driver involved other then, a Black London Taxi and the driver being an older white male.

The taxi driver has reported it to please police saying I failed to stop and put his report in as an injury report, where as I put reported mine as an incident. Some people really like to try these things on when they see a company vehicle involved.

Not being funny but why didn't you pull up behind the taxi driver ? It wouldn't have taken more then a minute or two to take some photos and exchange details.

sorry but if you turn left then left again it would look like you have driven off ( not stopping ) which is an offense in it's self
if i was the taxi driver i would of thought the same

You should of at least said to him you just going to find somewhere safe to park as in his eyes all he see was you drive off
And about injury claim who wouldn't claim whiplash if someone went into the
Back off them

oh dear....none of u work or live in city of London I take it.

Did bike courier for a year, it was 20 years ago but does that count.

The problem is the taxi driver expected you to stop behind or close by him. By the sounds of it, it took you a couple of minutes at least to get to him. What did you expect him to do ?

Born and bred there but unless Boris has built telepathic transmitters on every street corner in the last couple of years I don't see what else you expected the taxi driver to think when you disappeared. As for the driver claiming injury he could well be trying it on, but you'll never know will you...... because you didn't stop.

Good luck with it all though.

Well I wouldn't, unless genuine, unlikely at the presumed impact speed.

your missing the point of this thread...The taxi had gone but his claiming injury..

and as for those who think it's ok to play dodgems with the traffic and cause another accident is beyond me.
This road had a double junction box between us, yes and I mean a double junction box, with 4 way of traffic in rush hour on a cross roads and remember I was in lane 2 with a lane either side of me and u wanted me to get and talk to the driver. Parking on a red route is defo a no go under no circumstances and I would be fined. There are TFL camera's ever inch of London. I parked where safe for me to do so. I'll add a pic of this road, now remember it's rush hour and every inch of road is covered by traffic and pedestrian, motorbikes, cyclist etc and yes I mean every inch.

I was bumper to bumper stop start in traffic, I wasn't flying down a motorway. No I wouldn't claim whiplash if someone hit me from the rear and I didn't have it.

I would claim whiplash even if I didn't have it to cover the rising cost of my car insurance for having a non fault claim against me
As non fault claims still go against you so if someone went in to back of me and I had to claim to get my car repaired then for the next 5 years I have to declare that a d my insurance will be more for that period cause of it so I would claim the whiplash to cover it

You could be wrong with your statement mate.

"If you are not at fault for an accident and have suffered an injury and vehicle damage, you need to make a claim. However, you actually claim from two different sources. Your vehicle damage claim would be made to your own insurer (and they would try and recover the costs from the other driver's insurance company), whilst your whiplash claim will be made directly to the other driver's insurance company. If your insurance company is able to claim the cost of the repairs back safely from the other driver's insurance company, your no claims bonus will not be affected and your insurance premium will not increase".
