CD & DVD SVCD sound problem

Have recently purchased a cheap ALBA DVD player from Tesco.

It plays audio, DVD, MP3, VCD, DVD rips all ok.

Trouble is with SVCDs. Picture is OK but get no sound.

Can anybody enlighten me. Read that it may be due to DTS decoding???, which means nothing to me. Is there any way around this without parting with my hard earned cash, i.e A/V leads into TV or stereo.

it may be that the sound on the svcd is mono try changing the audio on ur dvd player or it could be the other way around svcd=stereo dvd=mono
