Anyway, I bought a new toaster in February. Not majorly expensive but this morning it tripped the electrics. What?

It was only on the way to a kitchen project that I figured it out.

A few years ago I upgraded my consumer unit to include an RCD for downstairs sockets. Larger lumps of bread etc. will trip an RCD. There was such a lump jammed between the element and the grid.

So, clean out your toaster regularly just in case!

I bunged the Megger on it M8. With lump of bread, failed. After removal, passed!
