this run very quick on xp and theres alot there,what is it?and how do I slow it down?

type it in the command prompt m8. It will give u a list of whats using up ure internet connection.

If u type it as a run command it will just dissapear again.
But in the command prompt it will stay.

use fport from foundstone and you will get a printout you can understand :)

my fave dos cmd is tasklist /svc (XP only)
it tells you if a process is running as a service and is damn handy if yer tryin to find a way to kill malware, backdoors etc...

Tracert ip or url Trace route. This program will ping everycomputer along the route between you and the typed ip/url

All of these command listed earlier can be typed into the command prompt window.
This window appears in windows XP,2000 and NT by typing cmd in the run box.
This window appears in windows 98 and ME by typing command in the run box.

You can usually get help about the command by typing /? after the command.
for example typing tracert /?

dir /?

help /?

How do you clear the entries that you find in the registry?

I found about 50 of them.

a usefull extension to any command line utility is the |more option

This will make what every command you are running stop at the end of each page, and wait for you to press a key.

e.g. dir c:\windows |more

aaahhh DOS pipes... the memories

A useful way of getting info into a text file is

C:\dir *.* > text.txt
C:\ edit text.txt - will open the dos editor

DOS commands are very useful when you are in safe-mode or inside a dos box, can save your life.

;Remove Alexa Spyware (comes built in Windows by default)
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\{c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a}]

;-Enable Remote-Desktop
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server]

"fDenyTSConnections"=dword:00000000

;Fix for DSO Exploit that Spybot complains about
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0]
"1004"=dword:00000003

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"Start_LargeMFUIcons"=dword:00000000

;Make the Windows XP registration with Microsoft unnecessary
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion]
"RegDone"="1"

;Disables Preview of Movie file formats (allowing you to move/rename/delete without errors)
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.avi\ShellEx]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mpg\ShellEx]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mpe\ShellEx]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mpeg\ShellEx]

;Set IE cache to 20MB, 7 days history
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content]
"PerUserItem"=dword:00000000
"CachePrefix"=""
"CacheLimit"=dword:00005000

; Messenger
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Messenger]
"Start"=dword:00000002

;This adds the "Open Command Window Here" on the right click menu for folders
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\cmd]
@="Open Command Window Here"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\cmd\command]
@="cmd.exe /k \"cd %L\""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\cmd]
@="Open Command Window Here"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\cmd\command]
@="cmd.exe /k \"cd %L\""

To use make a file called myregfixes.reg and add the ones in you want. Once completed double click the file.

Also, when at a dos prompt, (lets say the root c:) instead of typing in ...

cd "documents and settings"

type in cd doc*
------------

Also, try this ...

First go into a folder with lots of files (cd \windows\system32

then enter m (for example - without pressing enter)

then press the tab key a few times

:)

How cool is that !!!!!

(Think XP only though)
