Rocker Scott Weiland, the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots, has been charged with cocaine and heroin possession in Los Angeles, two years after completing a jail term for violating his probation on the same charges, prosecutors say.
Weiland, 35, and Jennifer Lynn Sires, 29, were stopped by Burbank police shortly before midnight on Saturday after officers saw them driving without lights in a shuttered retail district.
They were arrested after police noticed a syringe in the car, and a search of the vehicle yielded cocaine and heroin, a police spokesman said.
Weiland was released from jail on Sunday after posting $25,000 bail (15,230 pounds). He was scheduled to be arraigned on June 2.
Sires, who faces a heroin possession charge, was scheduled to be arraigned later on Tuesday.
Stone Temple Pilots has been on hiatus since cutting its 2001 album, "Shangri-La Dee Da," and its members were reportedly pursuing individual projects.

Weiland's drug problems date back to the mid-1990s, when he was arrested for heroin and cocaine possession. The band was forced into hiatus in 1999 when Weiland was jailed for violating his probation and failing to complete drug rehabilitation.
