hi all... not too clued up on this much. my girl has had an R4ds for about a year. is it real or fake? im not sure.
recently she asked me to get 2 roms for her which i did but they wont play, i think the firmware is v1.16 altho i tried 1.18 and it just says loading.

can anyone give me some pointers please?

thanks. i just formatted the card and loaded the wood files you suggested and its just sitting at loading. am i doing something wrong?

ok i downloaded everything it says. firstly i tried the 1.18 kernel and its still sitting at loading
have 2 r4 cards . 1 says sdhc and the other just says R4 for nds and ndsl
tried em both and they say LOADING and just sit there

work on one card at a time m8. they will be totallly diffrent


the card that doesnt say sdhc is your best bet....

1. what size sd card are you using, (orginal r4 cards dont suport sdhc cards, maximun 2gig card)

1. format your sd card (back it up if you have any games or savs on it)
make sure the sd card is non sdhc maximum 2gig

2. download latests woods firmware.

3. extract the files and copy to root of sd card.

4. copy a game to sd card and card.

When i open the card?

as in on the pc or ds....

did as u said and got files on the card... ds_menu and _rpg with a game
but says loading on the ds when inserted

yeah its a ds lite. tried those files mate, still all im getting is LOADING when i put it in the ds

used an sd formatter too.. just to make sure its clean

i tried the sdcard in the sdhc with its firmware and it works fine, perhaps its a clone. is there anything for a clone i could try?

he bought it a year ago so it will be a fake r4ds,

cant remember the website that gives a list of all the firmwares available maybe someone else can help ?

do you still have the old software files backed up ? try putting them back on and making sure its still working properly with the old firmware

thats it there, although i see last update for r4 is from 2008...

now its just a guessing game what fake yours is to use whichever firmware

this is why i never recommend R4 clones and just stick to tried and tested genuine dstt
