ps3 lazor or complete lazor mech

i have bought a ps3
and it wont read disks
now does it come up on the tv that the disk cannot be read or
does nothing happen?(mine does this)

(never had a ps3 before)

i want to repair this
and eventually hack it
the firmware is 3.50 i know i will have to wait till the hack comes out for this but need to fix first
all help wanted

yeah, it should boot ok but when u put a disk in, it might spin but nothing will come up.

what model Ps3?

ok striped it down tried a quick fix reflowing the laser connections
put it back together and tried it put a dvd in to try and noticed the disk came out the same way as it went in so the disk isnt spinning

i can get a motor for it but i may get the whole assembley and replace the lot never know when the laser will go

Hi m8,

If the disk doesn't spin on the way in or out it is a 40GB machine you have.
If this is correct, you will need a KES-400AAA laser. You can get the entire mech from hong kong for about £34. Bit of a wait of course but better than most of the reconditioned ones on fleabay.
