Problem with hibernation

I noticed yesterday that my laptop will not hibernate anymore. I close the screen down put the computer remains on. Does anyone have any ideas? It is a Toshiba A110-277. Also I have an pop-up coming up on firefox about every 30 mins - could the 2 be related. Any ideas to remove it?

Are you using Firefox only or IE8 as well?

I am using firefox v3 but I also have internet explorer 6 on my laptop. I have already used malwarebytes and nod32 but they have not worked.

try drweb cureit and super anti spyware pro it could be that the FF java files are infected

IE6? Thats archaic and needs to be replaced. Don't tell us your using XP and no service packs!
