Hi guys,
im gonna order a new LNB of ebay for about a fiver
probably this one:Sky Freesat Quad LNB Four outputs. FREE POST on eBay (end time 24-Nov-10 11:57:57 GMT)

it says its for the mk4 dish.
what version dish will i have?
i think it was installed in 2000.

i know it comes with the legacy adaptor but i heard that the adaptor was not designed for older dishes, although it will fit it wont be lined up optimally.

Thanks in advance,
CrazyFool.

If your Sky dish really is that old, then it will probably be a mk1, possibly mk2.

mk4 dishes are the latest dishes, where the LNB bracket straddles the feed arm rather than slotting inside it...

thanks for the info buddy,
shows how much the seller knows.
he said my dish would be mk3 lmao.

should i just go with this lnb and legacy adaptor then?
will it be compatible?
do i have any other options?

any installers on here willing to sell me some gear?

Cheers,
CrazyFool.

If it's an old mk1 the legacy adapter probably wont fit without modification, as the feed arms on those were really skinny and would just replace the whole lot i.e dish/LNB personally , if its a mk2/3 dish the adapter should fit.

how do i find out what dish version i have?
i couldnt give you the exact date of my installlation.
is there any detail on the dish itself that would give me that info?

Cheers.

The only way to know for sure is to measure the dimensions of the feed arm..

Have a look HERE It shows the different LNB types/arm dimensions (scroll about halfway down the page)

got some replys back from the ebay sellers,
the LNB's are poor. they are 0.6 dB.
that is absolutely shite.

i enquired about some a few months ago and they were like 0.2dB etc.
are they all like that nowadays?

You dont need a sat meter for 28.2e just have someone watching the TV m8 ;)

And you wont get much help if you keep making them sort of remarks ;)

It was said in Jest,
no intention to offend anybody,
if it did then I apologise Magnu,

as far as the new setup is concerned, i suppose i could replace my dish, even though it looks in very good nick, would like to see if its possible for me to replace my LNB first though,
you know start with the cheapest solution.

I DO have a second triax dish on my wall, either 60 or 80 cm,
i couldnt tell you what it is pointed to though, its a few degrees off 28.2

it was installed about 9 years ago and has a single lnb attached to it that looks a bit shagged.
i dont really want to alter that one though, just in case i want to watch something on it in the near future.
what do you think?

I know it was said in jest m8,as I know your strange sense of humour :proud:,
or maybe I'm as strange as I understand it lol,
but not everybody is as strange as us ;)

As regards the lnb m8 I havent got a scooby doo and I would just replace the lot,

as for the other dish its probably another old sly dish from the analogue days and would be pointing at 19.2e which is were they used to broadcast their signal from, and if thats the case the lnb on that would be useless also :)

no
I payed to have the second dish installed,
to see another satellite.

I'm talking about 10 years ago though so i cant remember what channels they were or what its pointed to :S

Ah ok your memory's as good as mine then lol,

Well if its pointed at 19.2e maybe Sly germany ?

Mate i wouldn't pay to much attention to LNB noise figures, they're little more than marketing BS, since they tend to quote the best figure/performance at a given temperature, and not an average figure, so different frequencies/temperatures can/will give much higher noise figures.

Thats a mk2 LNB with the larger/fatter 'spigot' fitting than the mk1s.
