hi, just put in a new laser in my ps2, now saying no disc data, need help

Did you remember to remove the static protection shorts?

Remove after ribbon cable is connected but before powering up.

Are the points still shorted together?

They should have been removed with a soldering iron.

Hope the laser drive hardware is OK.

hi, there is one solder point, with two lines going through it

Like this?

If it has a gap in the middle (IE you can see the brown material) then it's OK.

yes can see the brown material, so what else can be wrong

If the static protection short(s?) are OK then it could be a few things; sled bars, cables, power adjustment...

Are there any 'clicking' sounds when you get the error?

no, reads the disc, just says no data, can hear the laser reading the disc

If there is a "No Data" error then it isn't reading the disk properly for some reason.

The disk may be spun-up and the actuator may move the head across the disk as you hear but there must be a problem somewhere.

Try some different disks; DVD (not DVDR), CDR, CD...

Maybe if there is a modchip installed, something has been disrupted during the laser replacement.

Maybe the replacement unit has been damaged or was faulty.
