hi,

i had a dbox2 for a long time. however now have a dm500c

i have installed a base dm500_nplus_v2.01_20060820 image on it.

then changed cables.xml so it scans, updated zapit so epg works, put the autoroll.key on the box and installed addon_mgcamd114 so i have mgcamd as my cam.

all works, however i dont like mgcamd and would like to install evocamd.

i have searched the forum, and there is supposedly a howto by osborne82 that details how to do it, however the link doesent work :(

hence I would be greatfull if someone could give me an idiots guide. ;)

many thanks in advance

alternatively dows any1 know where i can find addon_necamd.bin or similar to install newcamd, or addon_gbox.bin to install the gbox cam.

cheers,

just to let every1 know i have sorted the issue now and have both newcamd and evocamd installed in addition to mgcamd :)

Glad you got it sorted.

Could you maybe describe how you did it so that this thread can help other people with the same problem.

Thanks!

HOWTO install evocamd or other emu (on rudbox neutrino dream plus)

Download emu from:
E m u l a t o r s

Each emu archive has a .ppc binary for dm500c whic you place in \var\emu\ and chmod to 755 to make it executable.

Place other files in required places as described in the table on that page.

Kill all running cams and zapit process then run zapit -u.

Go into menu->addons and your new cam will be in the list! After restarting the box the new cam will remain in the switchable list.

Hope that helps someone in the future!

BTW: Any chance of me getting access to the workshop area?

Regards,

Can someone elaborate on this?

How do I kill all running CAMs and zapit processes?

Telnet into the box.

Username: root

Type killall -9 evocamd
or killall -9 newcamd
or killall -9 mgcamg

Then type killall -9 zapit

To restart, simply type
evocamd or zapit.

Thanks, doesn't seem to work though.

I've followed the instructions for the file location, made the ppc file executable, but running zapit -u brings up a load of text about motors and all sorts and doesn't change anything.

Is there not an easier way of installing Evocamd?

Edit: The exact text of the last line (which is the only line that mentions camd) is:

tmp/camd.socket: Connection refused
