Dont touch mechanical discs, the actuation ratio is nothing compared to Rim Brakes
Think im going to go for the Specialized hardrock sport, found it in a shop not to far from me for £293 Specialized Hardrock Sport and i could go and pick it up. The reason i was thinking of getting mechanical discs is so if i decide to upgrade to hydraulic discs ive already got the hubs and just need the hydraulic parts, but if you guys say avoid them well iguess your the experts that why i asked the questions lol
Two Words "Rim wear" thats what youll face with rim brakes
I have a 2008 Giant Trance 2 with Sun doublewide rims on Hope Pro2 hubs, XTR drive train, Hope 203/183 Mono M4's I wouldnt go back to rim brakes after having Hydraulic Disc brakes.
I use it for Downhill, Freeride and a lot of forest singletrack.
Total control even in the mud / wet no loss of braking contact.
