Hi,

got a Surface Pro 5 but the battery is knackered on it, would like to take it on holiday with me at end of the month & was wondering if anyone has used an external battery as looked at replacing the battery & seems way too tricky.

Thank you

Ive just replaced 2 battery's on these surface 5's. The hardest part is getting the battery off the chassis.

I wouldn't bother with an external PS as if the battery is gone, weird issues like charging to XX% then jumping to 100% or not charging to 100% or powering off straight away when the psu is removed. Then you will likely have issues of it powering off even when plugged in at some point. Best off changing the battery, between £37 and £50.

Have a go its not that hard, the glass screen is quite flexible and as long as you have enough heat on it and dont lift the screen up more than the thickness of the tool used separate the glue you are good to go. The wifi antenna at the top can be a little tricky but as long as you dont destroy them they can be reattached.
