DVB - PC Cards MediaPortal (All Versions) & MDAPI (Fenrir/Yankse) Guide

Thanks. I've converted and used the bruteforce file and that did indeed discover a lot of channels. I then took a channel from there and went up and down in 8KHz increments to find the rest. I'm still missing a few though (BBC3, Dave etc) from an ex TW area.

I might create a file from the first channel to the last channel in 250Hz increments and see if that finds the rest.

Can you (or anyone) provide the frequency for BBC3?

I'm still pretty overjoyed about getting this far.

yeah can do but will have to let u knw tonight, as ill bring up the stream information on my dbox when i get home tonight

which dvb-c card r u using?

i like media portal but i tried it when i was getting agro from my tt1500c card, may give it another shot with the twinhan card

have you tried it in full scren as when i used to select this it used to kinda freeze? dont know if it needs more than a P4 2.4G?

I'm using the technotrend c-1500. It does take a while when switching from windowed to full screen but I tend to use windowed when I'm working on it and just launch it as full screen when I want to actually watch it. Changing channels could be faster but apparently that can be achieved as well.

Sorry, meant to say that I'm running it on a dual core 2.4Ghz machine with 3GB of RAM.

I'm in North London, ex TW. I'll have a look for the service file, thanks.

don't look like there's a service file for ur area but ur default frequency is

That's an exact extract of the middle of the file that I created manaully. I went down to 107000 though and up to 995000. Is there a reason you stopped at the numbers you did? I've rescanned with your numbers and got slightly less channels still without BBC3 and Dave (BBC1, 2 and HD are there as well as Dave+1)

I'll create another file running from the start point you've listed above up to the end point in that list but moving in 250Hz increments, that should catch eveything. Or is that a stupid idea?

Also (and hopefully this'll be my last question for the moment), there are some channels that I'm finding but when I switch to them nothing happens. I can see the vplug log and it's like it doesn't even see them. I'll need to check but that might correspond with channels listed with a 0 in their channel number in MP config. Is there a way around that?

i got a dbox2 so i know my exact frequencies and i only chose the limits cause mine dont go any hgher or lower, my service file doesn't show any with 250hz but i would think u only need +/- 250 at each main frequency ie 514750, 515000, 515250, 522750, 523000, 523250 etc

I've got a service file for North london TW enfield/finsbury park/hackney etc, but don't know if I can send you this by pm??

Guys, this looks excellent. I'll let my scan finish and then try adding any channels that the scan didn't find.

Thanks, I'll let you know how I get on.

So after playing about for most of the weekend I'm pretty happy with things.

Double checking the transponder lists against each other has allowed me to select a range from around 100MHz up to about 650Mhz that gets all channels and everyone was right from the start, it's in steps of 8000.

My new issue (there's always one, isn't there) is that the nVidia audio codec has stopped processing the front left and right channels. I can't even get the test tones to play from inside the control panel. I'll look into that more tonight.

I thought I'd share a couple of "gotchas" that tripped me up with MediaPortal while setting it up though. The first is getting it to not crash on a channel scan. I found that when doing an autotune I was getting loads of MDAPI and VPlug icons in my system tray which would then crash the configuration. I solved this by moving the MDPlugins folder out of the MediaPortal directory and it works fine. I just then move it back in when I'm done. I might create a batch file that does this for me when I want to go into the config.

The other issue I had is that MP would work fine when launched as windowed or when launched as fullscreen. The problem would occur when I would launch it windowed and then choose to make it run fullscreen. Some of the channels just wouldn't get picked up at all, including some that had been working previously.

Everyone might already know about these issues or I might be the only one experiencing them but I thought I'd share them just in case it means that someone else doesn't tear their hair out or give up on MediaPortal.

Thanks again

normal reason is it isnt registered correctly

how do u register again please

is it

7 ) Register the MDAPI filter as follows:

Start > Run > regsvr32 “<path_to_mdapifilter>\mdapifilter.ax”

cause ive done it 2 times

it shoudl give u a box to say it was sucessful or not

Cant get icon to pop up help please

If your using 0.2.3 without TV Server you also need a patched TVCapture.dll
Have attached it to this post. (You need a plain 0.2.3 without any SVN's for this)

If your using Vista and the TV server you won't get the Icon to show.
