Perhaps Mr @Fangface our Mourhino expert can shed some light on the subject. :)

Jose will leave Utd scorched after constant reports of bust ups behind the scenes with likes of Charlton.
It will be a joy to behold.
There is only one team in Manchester....and it's blue.

I for one thank Van Gaal for his time with the club, he's been a great character and he's going to leave us in very good shape. The squad is confident in keeping the ball, defensively solid and it's disciplined, disciplined enough to carry out the managers instructions perhaps when they may feel it goes against the grain. Van Gaal has always taken criticism head on and never shied away from the bullets being fired. He's kept his council and shown great class.
A total opposite of Moyes who started to attack SAF and the players once the pressure became to much.

He has issued a statement which again oozes class.

Louis van Gaal issued the following statement at 20:30 BST this evening (Monday 23 May)...

It has been an honour to manage such a magnificent club as Manchester United FC, and in doing so, I have fulfilled a long-held ambition.

I am immensely proud to have helped United win the FA Cup for the 12th time in the club's history. I have been privileged during my management career to have won 20 trophies but winning the FA Cup, which is steeped in so much history, will always be one of the most special achievements of my career.

I am very disappointed to be unable to complete our intended three-year plan. I believe that the foundations are firmly in place to enable the club to move forward and achieve even greater success.

I hope that winning the FA Cup will give the club a platform to build upon next season to restore the success that this passionate set of fans desire.

Having managed in Holland, Spain and Germany, I had always hoped for the opportunity to manage in English football and be part of English culture. Both of these experiences have lived up to expectations and been fantastic.

I thank my players and wish them well for next season. It has been a pleasure to work with them and it has been particularly rewarding to see so many young players take their chance to break into the first team and excel. I look forward to watching the continued development of these young players next season.

Thank you to the owners and board of Manchester United for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the amazing United supporters. They are truly the best fans in the world.

I am indebted to my support and coaching staff, who have given me their all during their time at the club.

I am deeply grateful to each and every member of the club’s staff - the sports science team, the medical team, the kit and laundry department, club administration, the press office, the manager's team, the Academy team, ground staff and the catering team, both at Old Trafford stadium and Carrington training ground, all of whom have given me their unwavering support in my time at United. Never in my 25 years as a manager have I been so well supported in my role.

Finally, my special thanks go to Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton for always making me and my family feel so welcome throughout my time as Manchester United manager.

Ultimately the football and results were nowhere near good enough but you can't help but like the bloke and he leaves us now with a very capable squad has given us a great insight to our youth system and even introduced us to our new CB Mike Smalling. The future manager does not have a lot of groundwork to do in order to give this United side an attacking impetus.

He's going to have a huge point to prove (Mourinho) coming back into management after the circus of player power at Chelsea.
Is he the type of manager United would usually go for ? No ! but he is a serial winner and this appointment is 3 years late in my opinion. This is the one that Mourinho has always wanted, it's the biggest job in English football and he will have a backing from the board like he has never known from his times in Madrid and Chelsea. United showed faith to LVG beyond anything that he would have been allowed in the Chelsea or Madrid jobs. Mourinho will have full control with no meddling from above and this could just be his time now, his time to lay down his legacy and even go after Sir Alex Fergusons records, if anyone has the ability and the tenacity to step out of the shadow of ferguson that looms over Old Trafford then Mourinho is it.

I am fully behind this decision, the absolute worst kept secret since Guardiola signed for City.
Let battle commence and let us drool as Zlatan bullies his way through his last couple of seasons in a United shirt :hubbahubba:

Changing manager every couple of years is the road to the Europa League

Your well on course to get back in that then ! Next year :Hit:

...and boring with it, not to mention the p*ss poor 'goals for' tally.

I've nothing against United, but Van Gaal was a backward step.

For me Van Gaal has brought us back from the abyss that was created under Moyes.

I wont miss the football, not one bit, the focus on attack was bordering on zero. I will miss Louis Van Gaal though, he was as entertaining as the football wasn't.
The mad King indeed.
