to be honest.. its very hard to respect a referee when they make stupid and inconsistent decisions regularly..

The refs may make stupid and inconsistent mistakes, but they are always trying to be fair to a bunch of cheating lying footballers, and sometimes the cheats and liars manage to trick the refs into making a stupid and inconsistent mistakes.
If they tried being honest then maybe the refs could concentrate on getting the big decisions correct.
