Looking for a DLINK DIR-615D - the one where you can flash with DDWRT

is that router meant to be better then the WRT54GL ?

ebay Item number: 110882810036 and Item number: 170843903549

yiou might have to email them to ask what version it is, should say on the label underneath

hope this helps

if your buying a new router make sure that it's 10/100/1000 Gigabit ports and speed mate, I'v just bought another Netgear WNR3500L v2 as I'm going to stick "Tomato" on it, just beware that DD-WRT can have "flaws" if not set up correctly. I had one for years so don't get me wrong, good firmware, how ever I did post a while back how DD-WRT dramatically affected the throughput on the netgear 3500L. (that was under load) general usage will be fine.

Still don't let that put you off mate, but defo go for a one that has Gigabit ports mate if your upgrading, no point in getting a router that is only 10/100

EDIT:

Maybe have a look at Tomato mate, sounds like it's come on leaps and bounds since I seen it, how ever, I was all ways a DD-WRT man.

when I get it set up and that I'll let you know, but here's a snippet.

In addition to USB storage and media server capability, you can also use a built-in Bittorrent app, Transmission, to directly download torrents. There is even a built-in GUI, making it very easy to upload the torrent files you want to the router. The only tricky bit is configuring the download location--it's much easier if you have a USB connected drive.

Features:
- OpenVPN integration and GUI
- Transmission 2.50 integration
- GUI for Transmission
- Custom log file path
- SD-idle tool integration for kernel 2.6
- 3G Modem support
- SNMP integration and GUI
- Extended Sysinfo
- QOS-detailed & ctrate filters
- Realtime bandwidth monitoring of LAN clients
- Static ARP binding
- VLAN administration GUI
- Multiple LAN support integration and GUI
- Configurable QOS class names
- Comprehensive QOS rule examples set by default
- Revised IP/MAC Bandwidth Limiter
- DNScrypt-proxy integration and GUI
- UDPxy integration and GUI
- NFS server integration and GUI
- APCUPSD (UPS Monitor) integration and GUI
- HFS/HFS+ filesystem sypport
- Captive Portal. (Based in NocatSplash)
- PPTP Server with GUI
- MultiSSID with GUI
