forgive my ignorance but why would you need to jtag a dreambox when it is already possible to flash pretty much any firmware you want to one??

If you flash certain Gemini images to your clone dreambox 500, they contain clone killer code, which over writes the bootloader on the box.

Your box is then effectively dead, cannot be flashed wih any convential methods, null modem/dreamup etc.

You have to use a JTAG to re-write the bootloader to the box, then you can flash any image of your choice.
