Help with first flash.

Hi guys,

I got my new dreambox today and am just trying to flash the DW 2 image onto it using flashwizard pro 6.3. I have connected ok but the process seems to be stuck at 93% writing and verifying cramfs memory partition. Some numbers to the right of 93% are increasing (currently on 2281) but nothing else is happening. The box responds to ping but I cant do anything else. Is this normal or has it frozen up?

Get a null modem serial cable and connect the pc to the dreambox, use dreamup to send the image, you then need to start the set up from scratch

Think you should have ftpd it to your temp folder then kicked it off from there.

After a quick trip to maplin for a usb to serial adapter we are now cooking! 1-1! One thing I have noticed immediately is that the picture quality is not as good as the dbox. Any thoughts on that anyone?

I found good scart lead did the trick for me

but that was more for picture quality on LCD rather than better than dbox

I found the Dream to be far better quality than the Dbox in all honesty

I think its more that its just different rather than worse now that I have got used to it. Is there a proper EPG like the dbox that allows you to see upcoming programs?

Dont quite know what to make of the dreambox really. Ive got DW2 installed and have done a few scans. Whats there is good but a lot of channels that I can get perfectly on my dbox arent there or are a pixelated mess. I cant get BBC One, ITV1 or ITV4 but can get all porn and sports except Setanta 1 (which is a mess blocky mess). No SciFi but bravo, challenge etc.

Are dreamboxes fussier regarding scans/signals? At the moment Im favouring plugging my nokia back in.

the 500 tuner is a bit weaker than than the dbox2 tuner

some people have needed to get a booster ,pain in the arse but there you go

He he. Can you recommend one please mate? Im going to Argos to get a signal booster and give it one last go.

I'm still using the Neutrino Dreamplus Ultra 0.9b but bear in mind it has a bug that'll delete your services file if you make any changes to the bouquets and reboot. So get in there quick and back it up by FTP so you can restore it easily enough. Failing that it's been flawless for me.
Cryo's "unfinished" polished rudbox neutrino has the bug fixed but I couldn't get any of the emus to decode nagra channels properly so have given up until the man gets around to finishing off his great work

Thanks. Absolute nightmare this: Bought a booster from Argos and am now able to get BBC one etc...But now Sky Sports and other Channels are a pxellated mess. Only option is to put it on the live feed but then I cant get channel 5. Is it possible Ive been sold a crap box?

change the color format to rgb,it will probably be on cvbs,then you will see that the pictur quality is superior.Just to let anyone involved in the digital worldz 2.0 image know,that this is default cvbs when it should be rgb,it would be good if you guys could change it to default rgb
