i think the hdd is dead in my laptop, it just gets passed bios screen and hangs with hdd light on, if i go into bios i get the option to boot to windows 7 which is my operating system but it doesn't boot, is there anyway I can solve this without a dvd or recovery disk as I just don't have 1.
Thanks..

You could download the ultimate boot disk, that runs on it's own with several repair utils built in. You will also be able to see if it can access Your Hdd. Another thing You could try is Hirens boot cd it has a lot of repair software HDD regenerator may be worth trying
