Hi Guys,

Thanks to many positive reviews, I have now got my VU+Duo and been having a play for the past couple of days.

Boy is this receiver good and I may jus have converted to a new breed.

EPG, Menu, Build and Picture Quality and all second to none and yes I have used most of the others out there and still own them too.

I have uploaded the latest Vix image which is flawless (touch wood), but considering this bad boy has so much to offer, I am open to any tips & tricks you guys can give.

Once again thanks for the positive reviews.

congratulations.

look up transmission.
a torrent client.

and there is a youtube player in plugins section

i too have just got a vu+duo to go with a new dish/motor/lnb im saving for so any feedback regarding img,s and day-to-day operation will be very helpfull. regards mdt

as mentioned above, vix image is your best bet.
setting up epg is a piece of piss, no need for channel mapping etc.
and those two are my favourite plugins.

allows you to download/upload files stored on your hdd via bittorrent seeing as your box is hooked up to the tinternet anyway.
there are some good scripts about that enable you to start seeding at midnight etc to use your offpeak bandwidth etc.

thats as far as my knowledge on that topic goes, there is a transmission wiki if you want to check it out.

additionally,
did you just call me crazy?

Can someone post some pictures of this receiver and the remote... Looking for a second HD box and might see if this is the one to get.

This is about my 6th non official satellite and cable STB (both open source and not) and is the best one I've used yet. I think it not being a pirate rip off of someone elses hardware helps this situation.

For pictures Google is your friend vu+ duo - Google Search

Looks nices... What sort of prices am I looking at for Vu+ Duo?

about £375 I believe unfortunately. I managed to get mine tax free at around £325 as I got it delivered to Guernsey which is outside the EU. In saying that my DM800HD clone was £190 and the VU+ Duo was definately worth the difference.

lol yeah thats what i initially thought, but thats 250 quid that you still lose at the end of the year.
at least if your cardsharing, the box is an asset which can be later sold so your only really losing the cs server fee.
works out cheaper in the long run.

but its the upfront cost which is the issue... Probz time to have a clear out of old junk or see if price comes down. Do you need to connect two feeds or is one a loop? If it was £300 I would of probably ordered.

Its a fresh feed from the LNB for each tuner.
should already have two coming through the wall from your previous Sky+ setup.

If you cant afford it, you might want to take a look at just buying a single tuner box like the dm800hd.

or if you are gonna need two boxes in your house, you can record off one while you watch off the other, you can even mount a single hard drive on one dm800 and record to it from your second box.
of course, you have to factor in the cost of the second cline and impracticality.
but this is what i will be doing as i need a second box anyway, and am running my own server so have clines at my disposal.

Depends what you use your receivers for mate.

If just to watch good quality tv then yes the Sly Half Price deal would be cracking, but with these receivers the Satellite World is your oyster.

I have mine connect with a Sly UK Fixed Dish in one LNB Input and a Motorised in another and I can not believe how much of a benefit this thing is.

I have used many different receivers and have to say as mentioned above this thing is in a league of its own mate.

Similar receiver from Dreambox would cost over £600 so for what you are getting this is well priced at around £350 (£315-£375).

I need to get hold of a motorised setup!

I need to get hold of a fixed dish! :proud:

Got the kids watching cartoons in one room and the missus watching Eastenders in another, I never get the chance to move my motorised dish, need to stick one up just for them to leave me alone to my 3D HD porn on 13e :Fish:

LOL

Ps. I don't even own a 3D TV yet!
