I haven't got a scooby.

I recently bought this:

EX3210R MOBIUZ 165Hz 1ms 2K QHD 1000R Curved Gaming Montior

Can't really comment on it from a gaming perspective, but if you don't need 4K (I am assuming your lad doesn't have an Xbox One X / series X) then I think it's a good all round monitor and the speakers are fantastic imo.

They do a 27" version too.

Then to get the most from it, he will want hdmi 2.1 as it supports 4K 120hz
