Don't own a Wii myself, but might consider one if one day I can download and play the games.

Well on that site it says "Of course, you still can't actually play such burned discs on the Wii -- though Paradox seems to think such a hack is right around the corner"

So it looks like the Wii will need to be modified to play "Backup" games.

This happened with the Xbox 360. Groups release images of some of the games, so that hackers can study the file systems and see if there is a way to exploit the system.

The games therefore will not be playable until a hack/modchip is released.
