After nearly 3 months of constant stress, i will finally be exchanging tomorrow on a new house . I am so relieved that I have got to this point because the last three months has been a nightmare in finding a house, this also didn't help on the fact my farther passing away recently. I sold my property at the beginning of December and moved into my mums as I wanted to buy a slightly bigger house (3 bed terrace) to the one I had sold and wanted to be chain free. But the housing market especially around east london and essex is crazy at the moment. I went to about 20 viewings all of which were open viewings with about 20-30 people turning up to see one house fecking ridiculous , I was gazumped once already which was annoying but lucky I didn't lose out any money. Houses which needed total gutting out and starting over again were also being snapped up at over the asking price. A typical example was for a 3 bed house in Leyton which needed a total refurb went for around £335k mark. Never again.
I had a email from my solicitor this afternoon that they have all the paperwork now so we can exchange. The vendor have been great as I have been in contact with them every step of the way keeping them updated on everything my end which they appreciated. But anyone thinking of buying a house in london good luck.
