The ethics committee has made its decision - two weeks after the Swiss attorney general opened criminal proceedings against the president
Sepp-Blatter.jpg

The end is nigh: Blatter has been suspended for 90 days FIFA president Sepp Blatter and his UEFA counterpart Michel Platini have been hit with 90 day suspensions by FIFA's independent Ethics Committee.

Blatter is being investigated regarding a contract he signed that was "unfavourable" to FIFA. He is also accused of making a "disloyal" payment to UEFA president and FIFA vice-president Platini.
Both Platini and Blatter deny any wrongdoing.
FIFA's General Secretary Jerome Valcke, who is already on leave, has also been suspended for 90 days.

All three suspensions could be extended by up to 45 days

Discouraging to see Platini named as receiving a "Disloyal payment" from Blatter as he was seen as a decent and honest replacement for Blatter and had even received backing from the FA.

I think corruption should be banned from sports. It goes against the very principle of sportsmanship.
