External Nas and DM800 recording.....And EPG usb stick?

ill try the new image tomorrow as im to bed soon:)

Right you offically cant get the hump now as ive been trying!

I still cant get it to record over to the nas...

Obviously would be idea as it would save me loads of dosh But still.....

Im so near pulling my hair out so take pity on me,

Can you actually see the Nas from your box??? because like i said the default recording paths will need to be changed.

Also the hassle your having with the image i think it has been a corrupt flash, i would advise to reflash.

dont worry daddy goose i shall do.... i cannot another telling off.

Lol,

Can you se your Nas from your box?????? and don't answer yes it's just across the room!!

i havnt flashed yet, well not the box anyway. And yes the nas can been seen on the box....

Ill probably wait till the weekend as i cant stand something going wrong and not having the time for a good old fiddle as us lads know we all like a good fiddle!

Mate if you can see the box then i think you will just need to chane the default recording paths, so they go to the Nas.

This is how to chane the recording paths,

press video twice
press menu
switch to file list and press ok
press ok on parent directory
scroll to list of storage devices press ok
should give you option
lower usb slot
usb stick
internal flash
at the bottom of screen should be green button to ok
new recording path,

Try that mate and see if your Nas is there, you might have to make a folder called movie.

OIn mine if i click on list storage devices it only lists flash.....doesnt mention usb or lower !!

Green is ok and obviously i cant select the nas through this!!

How annoying!

it says directory /hdd/movie non existant....

But my stora has a wierd file structure as

if i click on my nas from network it doesnt come up as a single drive letter it comes up with several and i cant set a directory at the base level to make a folder movies so i have....

\\STORA\MyComputers\Movies

when really i need \\stora\movies so i think?

also it does say my network mount is successful so i must be nearly there??

directory hdd/movie non existant.

in my mount view there in the mounted/unmounted bit there is a pic of a drive with a red cross but a green tick by active?

In the mounts editor i have

Active enabled
local share name stora
mount type nfs share
server ip 192.168.11.8
server share i tryed it as default i also tryed stora/mycomputers/movie
use as hdd replacement ive tryed yes and no
mount options rw,nolock

Does that help anyone?

Ive got a 500gb 2.5" drive coming tomorrow and a esata caddy and lead etc,.....

all for under £50 so ill see how i get on!!

watch this space to be pestered again lol!

gave up?
you could have got a 3.5" 1TB HDD and external caddy for that money....

wanted the 2.5" in case i decide to put in the box!

500gb is plenty for me

Right im gonna stick to this thread as its most appropriate....

Taken the dreambox apart remove the hard drive tray and got to the usb port underneath...

Taken a 1gb usb stick apart so its just the bare metal.....

Downloaded the full home edition of this....Magic Server Partition Manager Software - Resize partition for Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2000.

Formatted it in ext3.

Im now installing my 500gb drive in its esata enclosure(AS ITS ONLY JUST ARRIVED!!!)

See what happens there!

EDIT1

Plugged the drive into the esata port and not a lot happened nor did the dm800 detect the drive.

Im not going to format it in ext3 and see if it picks it up then.

This is a BRAND new drive if it makes any odds.
