External hard drive

Could anyone advise me on a good make of external hard drive. I would like to get either a 320gb or 500gb one. There are lots of different brands at different prices!

Do you want one that is bus powered via the USB port or you don't mind one that requires its own power supply ?

I have 2 Seagate Free Agent Desktop 3.5" powered drives, a 1tb and a 500gb. I wouldn't have another one they are crap, good job they have a 3 year warranty. The 500gb has been replaced twice in the last year & half and the 1tb has been replaced once in the last year.

Seagate are pretty good at replacing them, but that doesn't give you back the data you've lost.

I've always bought seagate internal drives and never had any problems in years.

I have been using western digital or seagate for years now.

As oneman suggests it would be helpful if we new what you going to use it for, if external or internal, IDE or Sata etc.
