More than 25 years after his death, Elvis Presley is still the King - at least when it comes to making cash..

For the third year in a row the rock 'n' roll icon has topped the Forbes.com income list for deceased celebrities.

Also making the top five are former Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison.

Elvis made £25m in the year ending September 2003.

His '30 No1 Hit's album, released in 2002, sold nine million copies. The record was followed up by the chart success Elvis: Second To None.

Gracelands

Visits to Graceland were up 4% in the past year, to 600,000. And a version of the forgotten song Rubberneckin' was used in a Toyota commercial.

Second on the list was Peanuts cartoon creator Charles Schulz, with £20m, then Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien, with nearly £14m.

In fourth place was Lennon with nearly £12m. His solo record sales came in at 219,000 last year.

George Harrison, who died of cancer, aged 58, in December 2001, made £10m.

His solo records outsold Lennon's by more than 100% and his estate takes a quarter of the royalties from Beatles record sales.

Aktins

Beatles sales were down on the previous year but still totalled two million units.

Dr Seuss, whose book Cat In The Hat has recently been made in to a movie by Austin Powers creator Mike Myers, made £10m.

Dr Robert Atkins pioneer of the popular but controversial low-carbohydrate Atkins diet made £3.8m.

He died in April 2003, aged 72, weeks after slipping on ice in New York and suffering a head injury.
