CD & DVD dvd to vcd

ok i can copy dvd to vcd thru dvd decriptor-flask-tmpegenc,but at times when i watch the films on my player the film seems to me as it is see thru ,no colours etc,any one give any advice to copy dvd to vcd at the best quality not really botherered if it takes a while ,made5 copys now 2 r goodish,3 r maybe if you get home pissed from the pub....
