A very similar setup to the OP but with some better components at more than £10 less.

Just trying to help fellow forum members out and not spoiling the OP.

I built the exact same setup earlier this year and the onbaord graphics ran Vista Ultimate with nice effects, i.e. fading in and out of menus, full see through menus etc. Vista Ultimate ran smoothly enough even with just 1gb. But obviously I did not game on it, you would need a decent card in there if you want to play anything more than the SIMS.

Take a look at this chart, you can change the type of software by using the drop down menu at the top of the screen. But yes it is a much, much faster processor. Look for the ones in red to get your answer.

Is the spec better youve quoted better then the 1 posted here in all aspects?
I've just ordered myne but i'm willing to cancel if it beats the spec in all ends?
Cheers!

It does not exactly beat it, just maybe better quality components.

The board I linked to has 7.1 surround sound ouput compatred to 5.1 on the other. I am also almost 100% certain that the board in the original post is an ECS board and the PCI-express slot is only running at 8X speed other than the full 16x.

The hard dirve on this one is a SATAII with 8mb cache, much better than the other old style PATA with 2mb cache.

I have opted for Kingston ram with lifetime warranty. Not sure what comes with the other. But both are the same speed.

Samsung 20X burner compared to an 18X.

350W PSU compared to a 300W (both cheapo things anyway so does not really matter).

Performance wise you may be slightly better off buying the second setup, and I mean very flight. Although the parts are of much better quality. If you are planning on adding a gaming card then I would cancel as it is a cut down gaming port in the first setup.

It all depends on if you can be bothered to cancel, has it already been shipped? If not then just cancel but it may take a week or two ro see a refund.

All in all the first buy is a good buy, but they have certainly thrown in parts that they will probably not have been able to sell as stand alone components, and they have charged full price for them in this setup, thus making it look like a bargain deal when all thrown in together. But in reality if you were to break it all down and price them seperate it is not such a good deal, especially when you look closer at each component.

System seems fine mate, I would get the Artic cooling solution as there is more info on it, also the Squeeze one will probably be sold out when you order as only 1 left.

You will only need a 24 pin connector if your going to be running a high end graphics card.

I ran the same setup with a 512mb 8600GT clocked to GTS speeds on a 20 pin connector. (A 24 pin connector is used to add more power to the board for those who use power hungry cards).

If you are running a high end card then you will be needing a 24 pin PSU to start with. So save yourself £2 quid and dump the connector.

I think scraping the barrel aint good to be honest PC World sell some canny refurbished E machines which id rather go for arnt you gonna wanna enhance this self build after a few weeks like someone says maybe good for a back up machine thats about it : multi :

just my opinion

Either go for this marginally expensive ( 8 Pounds) X2 4400+ http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125197, or buy an oem version of X2 4200+ http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133145, but you'll need to buy a suitable heatsink and fan combo.

Hope this helps.

Yup as totalgenius stated get the 4400+. it won't break the bank and it's a decent performer.

If costs are a must I could save you about £6 by getting that 4200+ and an aftermarker cooler.

The 4200 is in the link above and get this cooler, it will work fine with it:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105995
Total cost is less than £46 and you will have a little room for overclocking with that cooler if you ever need to.

well the PC on saverstore is out of stock so i have to wait for my item :(
just lettin you guys know.. so dont buy it if you dont wan2 wait..

Lol, how about the Imtel route? A great combo here, just use the above parts but remove the board and processor and add these ones below:
ECS 945GCT-M V1.0 i945GC Socket 775 6 Channel Audio mATX Motherboard
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132324

Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 2GHz Socket 775 800MHz FSB L2 1MB Cache Retail Box Processor
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132064

Total cost for both is about £80

Much better than the AMD equivalent, or if you wanted to save £10 get the lowest processor here: (But that is a bit slower than the AMD setup).
