Self Build Dual Core Base Unit < £144 delivered

Well that depends how much you want to spend and whether you will have any use for quad core.

Me personally I would go with an 8 series of Core 2 Duo, awesome processors for just over £100.

All what will happen is it will run a the bus at 1066mhz instead of 133mhz, I can see no reason why you will get any conflicts with those processors and that board, you may need a bios update at the very most, but for me it should just slot in and away you go.

thanks mate, a few months and they will be nice and cheap :)

Just want to inform you peeps who are put off by the Celeron processor that I have been doing quite a bit of Googling these and time and time again they seem to be beating the low end Pentium Core 2 Duo in most tasks and costs about £10 cheaper.

They also overclock to extreme speeds being able to match the higher end £100 plus 6 series 3ghz processors on low cache intensity apps, obviously it falls behind about 30% in games but that is understandable due to it having 8x less cache, but for £30 odd quid, these days it seems unreal as to what a rock bottom of the range processor can do.

So for the price these are awesome and kick ass over the 3600+ Athlon dual core which is a fully blown Athlon chip.
