Hi,

Have just moved from version 1.6.5 on my DB500 to the new v2.0. Works well and the picture seems better than before.

I am having a problem with VLC streaming to my PC. This worked fine on version 1.6.5 but when I try it with the new version I get the following error

Unable to open 'http://192.168.x.x:31339/0,0331,0905,0925

The messages panel in VLC gives a bit more detail:

access_mms error: cannot connect to 192.168.x.x:31339
main error: no suitable access module for `http://192.168.x.x:31339/0,0331,0905,0925,0915'

I have searched the net for an answer but to no avail. The weird thing is that the Web-X-TV link (from the Enigma Web Browser page) works fine and will display the image.

Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

I have the exact same problem with DW2.0.
It used to work with DW 1.6.5... Anyone managed to get it to work?

Unrar and copy the inetd.conf file to /var/etc and reboot.

Try again.

Hi again,

Tried you suggestion but still getting the same errors. If anyone has any other ideas it would be great.

Thanks for your help,

Meggers

i know this sounds stupid but try setting your router as

192.168.x.x (im using 192.168.1.1)

set up DHCP and you will get ips set as nessary

ips of 10.10.10 seem to cause issues

192.168.x.x is standard for private IP.s see what happens if no luck let us know the results

But the first poster used 192.168.x.x and is having the same problem. . .

I can't be arsed changing IP addresses on the router and all the PCs as 10.x.x.x is a perfectly valid private address.

It's no big problem; I can live with it.

The inetd.conf that Devilfish posted has got Windows style line ends. Telnet into the dreambox and type:
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.
Streaming should now work. At least you'll be able to connect to the streaming server on the correct port.

Good luck.

edit: Is /etc/inetd.conf supposed to be a symlink to /var/etc/inetd.conf . Because for me it's not. This might be one of the reasons people are having networking problems with DW2. Just a thought.

Thanks again beady.

Ive updated the attachment for future downloads.

Every day's a school day! :)

It wasn't the carriage return problem anyway, inetd (or busybox) seems to be able to handle them, so ignore my first post. The problem is that the new config isn't being read, 'cause /etc/inetd.conf isn't a symlink to the file in /var/etc.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if you either start inetd with the correct path, or change to a symlink (which only I can do with my fancy nfs booting ;) ) then it works fine. Otherwise, it's not going to start. Out of interest does anyone know why streamts is commented out in the original? Seems strange to disable it.

Streamts is replaced with zapstream which is supposed to be better at streaming and recording.

/var/etc is read before any of the read-only folders so I thought it might use that file before the inetd.conf file in /etc. And it's automatically started on bootup so looks like it will need to be killed and manually started from the new location as per one of your previous posts.

If you unrar the attached file and copy the _user.sh file to /var/bin and chmod 755, it will show up in the User Features menu. Selecting it will stop the current version and start it again using the new config.

That works a treat. Thanks a bunch, guys.

I noticed one has to run the stream restart User Addon after rebooting the box.
Is there a way to force it automatically during reboot?

The two first lines in inittab are:

::sysinit:/etc/init.d/rcS
::eek:nce:/etc/init.d/start

The content of /etc/init.d/start is:

#!/bin/sh
. /etc/profile

Am I right in assuming that I can put the following line in /etc/init.d/start and the script will be run upon every reboot (provided that the script executable permissions are ok)?

. /var/bin/RestartStreamts_user.sh

The startup script is rcS, not start.

But /etc is read only so you can't edit it.

In /etc/init.d/rcS there is...

Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

Create a file in /var/etc called 'init'.

You need to copy everything after the above code in rcS to the init file in /var/etc and add whatever else you want to start on boot.

After this point, /var/etc/init becomes the boot file.

I hope that's understandable lol.

Perfectly. Thank you, will give it a go

However, if /etc was not read only, could I not put the line in Start as this is called from inittab whenever each runlevel is entered?

Different question: I noticed that when the addon had been run I can not telnet to the dreambox. Keeps getting an busybox library error and the connection is lost... What gives?
