I have a dell Latitude laptop that when i start up it starts in engeneering mode press (fn x) when you press this nothing happens any ideas how to stop this. : gun :

Does it have operating system installed? May be it has gone corrupt so its booting from BIOS.
Try inserting bootable CD (may be XP CD) and give it a go to see if it boots from the CD.

It has xp and it does boot but it takes around 5 mins to get past the bios

Can you get into the bios setup of the laptop?

Is there an option in the bios to restore defaults? Give it a try if you already haven't. Also it might be worth seeing if there is a bios update availible

I have updated the bios with no affect
this happens before the bios screen cuts in.

not tell me which model and i will send you files to use (might need asset tag updateing
