DB 500 Set up

Got a 500 to set up from scratch..so far I've got Gemini onto it and I've managed to load some satellites using my motorised dish.

Just wondering what's next? What's the best s/ware to load stuff in with and what do I load in?

Is the connecttion like this?

Modem to router

Router to DB 500

PC to router

any other connections?

Hi M8

Look at the top of the page at the stickies, there you have a full
setup guide for the 500. I followed it and sussed it in no time and
i use a 7020, so it must be easy.

Having trouble putting in the IP address of the router..I clicked search and it came up with 2 addresses. Tried both but still have the red line!!

Usually you will know from your pc's or dreambox ip. Like if pc is 192.168.1.2 and dreambox is 192.168.1.3 you know your router will be 192.168.1.1 You can usually see in 'Network Connections' status or properties options if you use windows os.
In general its like this for routers-
Belkins 192.168.2.1 ; BT 192.168.1.1 ; Dlink 192.168.0.1 ; Linksys 192.168.1.1 ; Netgear 192.168.1.254 (or various others)

Type the ip into your web browser address bar (firefox or IE7 etc) and you will get the router menus/login page. Then you will know you have the correct IP.

Just wondering which version of which Cams to use? Also how often do they change?

Finally..it has been suggested to use a memory stick to store cams..is this necessary witha 500 and what size memory will I need?
